Amid continued disruptions in Parliament over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls in Bihar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday convened an all-party meeting, urging members—particularly from the Opposition—to allow the House to function smoothly.

The Speaker called for constructive dialogue, highlighting the importance of maintaining decorum and ensuring productive sessions, including Question Hour. He reiterated that differences should be voiced in accordance with parliamentary norms, not through sloganeering or protest within the House.

The meeting also saw discussions around the upcoming 16-hour session on Operation Sindoor, scheduled for July 28.

Earlier in the day, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned amid uproar. Lok Sabha is set to reconvene at 2 PM, while Rajya Sabha will meet again on Monday at 11 AM.

Protests intensified after Opposition MPs entered the well of the House, holding placards and demanding a debate on the alleged disenfranchisement of over 52 lakh voters in Bihar. Congress MP Manickam Tagore had submitted an adjournment motion calling the voter list revision a “deliberate assault on the Constitution and democracy.”

Speaker Birla expressed concern over the ongoing stalemate, stating, “There’s a way to register protest. If you don’t want to run the Parliament, the House is adjourned.”

Meanwhile, protests by the INDIA bloc continued for the fifth consecutive day outside Parliament, with senior Congress leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi participating, demanding transparency and accountability in the Election Commission’s revision process.
